Stocks
The stock (shoulder rest) is a structural element of various types of hand weapons, as well as some tools and instruments, designed to improve ergonomic properties while holding and / or increasing stability when using the item on which it is installed. Butts are equipped primarily with many types of light small arms. The use of the butt on all types of weapons (firearms, pneumatic, throwing, etc.) not only increases the convenience of aiming, but also contributes to a comfortable overcoming of recoil. Depending on the purpose of the weapon, modern weapon stocks have a huge variety of shapes, configurations and sizes, some of which are regulated by international and regional standards, for example:
Straight butt. Butts of this type are most often used in magazine rifles with a lever bolt, because its shape provides the necessary free space for the operation of the increased trigger guard.
Standard butt with a pistol-neck. The top side of this butt is straight, and the bottom has a pronounced pistol grip.
German butt. An example with a pistol neck and a curved back.
Butt type "Monte Carlo." This type of stock differs from others in its characteristic pistol neck and pronounced falling upper part and also a protrusion for the shooter's cheek. This type is used mainly in large-caliber and target rifles.
Sports butt. Sports rifles are often equipped with butts with a characteristic pistol grip and a special hole for the thumb. In addition, sports samples are equipped with height-adjustable butt plates.
