This is an old Shiro Amakusa*Johaku* grit approx. #3000 for the middle process of sharpening knives, tools, swords, bevel setting for razors. The commonly available Amakusa stones have a grit size of around #800, but this 'Johaku,' like the ’Binsui Johaku’, has a grit size of about #3000 with a high level of uniformity. A slurry gray color quickly forms, maintaining a good cutting speed. You can see its value once you touch & use this whetstone !!
