Description

This razor finishing stone is Nakayama Asagi from Kyoto. This is a solid stone, I would recommend using with Nagura. These are natural stones, which means that each is different, so my measurements are not accurate. It is a lifelong investment for people who live sharpening their knives, razors and tools.

Historical Background: The Nakayama Quarry was founded about 800 years ago.

The Nakayama Quarry, located on the eastern side of Mount Atago, is part of the East Higashi Mono Quarry.

The Nakayama stones were the property of the Imperial Household for their high quality and were used to polish swords. These stones have never appeared on the market since the Kamakura period 1185-1333. And until the middle of the Muromachi era 1336-1573.

Nakayama stones are the most famous and celebrated of all Japanese natural decorative stones.
