This CWU 36/P fire-resistant flight jacket is intended exclusively for Air Force Pilots, Aircrewmen, Army and Navy, In-flight Aviators, Marine Corps and Navy, Air Medical Personnel, Fire/Rescue, Airfield Support Personnel, Airport Ground Crew and helicopter pilots

Military flight jackets were designed to protect the pilot from harsh weather conditions in the open cockpit. Later, the military faced the problem of bombers melting early in the event of a cabin fire. To solve this problem, the CWU (summer version of the uniform) was created thanks to heat resistance. This jacket was originally produced in 1972 to replace the MA-1 jacket. The military continues to issue these jackets today. Manufacturers created a nylon version of the CWU-36P, and it remains a popular jacket.
