The Track is an elegant folding pocket knife with a swift, sleek design and an extremely fast, pleasantly flip-opening micro-bearing opening. The 100mm blade is made from premium American CPM S35VN powder steel. This steel can be hardened up to 64 HRC and has good toughness and fine microstructure. CPM S35VN is a powder steel that requires a complex manufacturing process. It holds the sharp razor edge for a very long time. CPM S35VN is a martensitic stainless steel and is designed as an improved impact toughness of CPM S30V. In addition, this steel is easier to process and polish than CPMS30V. The chemical composition is balanced so that niobium vanadium and chromium carbides are formed. This makes CPM S35VN 15-20% harder than CPM S30V without sacrificing wear resistance. The improved strength of CPMS35VN makes it more resistant to chipping. Vanadium carbide and niobium carbide are more wear resistant than chromium carbide, so blade steel holds the edge better than conventional high chrome steels such as 440C and D2. The S35VN uses a finer structure and the addition of a small amount of niobium - thereby simplifying machining, sharpening, and increased strength compared to the S30V. Steel is legendary if only for the fact that it was created specifically for knives.
