This utility knife was made in the workshop of Ichimonji Kazuhira, a craftsman from Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. He used Yasukihagane carbon steel for this knife. Yasukihagane (a group of elite Japanese steels) has been used by most knife makers in Japan since ancient times. They are also called YSS (Yasuki Specialty Steel).

The knife was hand forged and tempered.
