ACU ECWCS Gen III Level 6 jacket

The protective sixth layer of the GORE-TEX® PACLITE® ECWCS kit is designed to be worn over the base layers of clothing during cold, very cold and / or wet weather.

ECWCS GenIII products use lightweight (30% lighter than previous generations) GORE-TEX® PACLITE® two-component fabric, which provides 50% more protection against moisture and wind compared to previous generations. Instead of the third inner layer in GORE-TEX® PACLITE®, a thin layer of carbon and grease repellent is used to prevent clogging of the membrane pores. Its smooth inner surface reduces friction, allowing layers of clothing to slide. This gives additional freedom of movement and ease when putting on / taking off clothes. The GORE-TEX® PACLITE® membrane has a water resistance of 20,000+ mm, vapor permeability + g / m² / 24 hours: 25,000.

Licenses to manufacture fabrics using GORE-TEX® technology have a limited number of companies. Despite the fact that at present the patent for technology is already open and there are many similar fabrics on the market, this technology is the leading industry standard.

According to the test results, out of materials widely represented on the market, having passed a hydrodynamic test for 500 hours, only GORE-TEX® material was recognized as waterproof (“waterproof”). GORE-TEX® analogs are nothing more than water-resistant fabrics ("water-resistant") because they are several times inferior in their protective qualities: H2NO Storm, Tripple Point 1200 (no more than 120 hours of protection) and Ebtek, Omnitech, H2NO Plus, Helly -Tech, Dry-tech, Membrain (no more than 24 hours of protection). GORE-TEX® vapor permeability is 1.5-3 times higher than its analogues.

The ECWCS GenIII 6th layer pants and jacket have flap-closure slots for access to the base layer pockets, zippers with flaps from the foot to the knee for quick dressing over the base layer without removing the shoes. There are attachment points for braces and elastic inserts at the waist and around the foot.

Note in size: since the 6 layer is designed for wearing on top of the 5 layer (or !!! any other clothes) —pants are “big”, do not have their own pockets — and slits (closed with velcro flaps) for access to the pockets of clothes dressed under 6 layers . Pants have protection on the knees and on the 5th point of a more dense material.
