Okudono Asagi (奥殿浅黄) is a very fine ("razor hone") Okudono stone from the Umegahata area. Sold by Nakakatsu. Yamamoto stamp - 山本男系山主精選 the presence of the Yamamoto stamp is especially valuable. It confirms the hand-selection of the stone by the Yamamoto family, historically associated with the development of the Umegahata mines.

About the stone -
Dark gray-blue color; very dense structure; one or two thin iron veins that do not hurt when sharpening; virtually no foreign inclusions.
The color resembles many old Okudono Asagi. A very dense, uniform surface. These stones are harder than Tomae; they produce less suspension; These provide a very clean, mirror-like finish.
A thickness of 5 mm does not indicate wear. These are special razor hones. These stones were often glued to a wooden base and used exclusively for honing kamisori; sometimes they were sold in this thickness. This is a perfectly normal size for razors.
